Road Safe India pledge

Yes! I pledge my support to Road Safe India and to save lives on road.

I will be a responsible driver / rider / pedestrian.

I will observe all the traffic rules and regulations concerning safe driving and safe use of the road.

I will not allow distractions like cell phone usage, talking, etc to take my focus off the road.

I will always be aware of my surroundings while driving / crossing roads.

I will not drink or take medication or drugs and drive.

I will not over speed or give into road rage or rash driving.

I will not put others’ lives at risk, if my health is a hazard to driving.

I will ensure the usage of seatbelt or helmet for all passengers.

I will cross only at the zebra crossing.

I will maintain a roadworthy vehicle and ensure I use indicators, mirrors and lights appropriately as and when necessary.

Tips for avoiding driver fatigue

Get plenty of sleep before starting off.

Avoid starting a long drive at the end of the day.

Avoid driving between 10 pm and 6 am or when you would normally be asleep.

Share the driving if you can.

Aim to stop for 15 minutes for every two hours.

Pull over and stop when you notice the warning signs of fatigue.

Have light snacks rather than fatty foods.

Avoid too much coffee or sweet soft drinks.

Drink plenty of water – dehydration can cause fatigue.

Stay away from alcohol at all costs.

Stop before you’re tired.

Traffic Signs are there to regulate traffic, warn about hazards and to guide the road user. There are three types of traffic signs – Mandatory, Cautionary, and Informatory Cautionary, and Informatory
